Mixed Connective Tissue Disease: Nasal Septal Perforation
Nasal septal perforation developed in this patient with mixed connective tissue disease. A superficial mucosal ulceration may precede a septal perforation. Nonspecific in etiology, this condition can occur in systemic lupus erythematosus, Wegener's granulomatosis, syphilis, other systemic diseases, and after trauma or nasal surgery. Nasal septal perforation is often associated with recurrent epistaxis.
