Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: Palpable Purpura
Raised purpura from the skin of the lower extremity in a patient with systemic lupus are seen. These lesions result from damage to the vessel wall sufficient to cause hemorrhage and edema in the surrounding tissue. These changes are characteristic of small vessel vasculitis.
